Beyond the Castle keep, beyond the back gardens, and into the mountains lies the great griffin nesting grounds. Partly open-aired, partly sheltered from the snow. Inside, it is a warm abode, where Kansel, the caretaker, sits by a fire and plays with the young griffinlings.
Enter Xerio, with his band of travelling companions. Among them, a Squire, an adept mage, a skilled smith, a rogue, and he himself, a young man with a unknown future.
